At the Institute of Biochemistry and Biology within the Faculty of Science of Potsdam University there is an immediate opening for a
Postdoctoral Research Associate (E13 TV-L Ost).
As part of an interdisciplinary research group and in collaboration with an industrial partner, the successful applicant will experimentally characterize and mathematically model the association and dissociation behavior of pharmaceutically relevant proteins and peptides. The position is initially limited to 2 years and may be extended by mutual agreement upon prolongation of a research contract between the university and the industrial partner.
Research by the successful applicant will involve

 *   The experimental characterization of association equilibria of proteins and peptides using hydrodynamic and scattering methods
 *   Kinetic studies of the dynamics of protein-protein interactions
 *   Analysis of protein secondary and tertiary structure using spectroscopic methods, in particular circular dichroism and fluorescence spectroscopy
 *   Mathematical modeling of experimental data to determine association equilibrium constants and populations of oligomers
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in physics, biophysics, physical chemistry, or biochemistry and have sound knowledge of numerical mathematics. Experience with biophysical techniques and with the numerical analysis of experimental results is desired. Abilities in protein and peptide chemistry are advantageous.
