[RASMB] Marc Lewis

Dear RASMB friends,

Thats bad news about my good friend Don. I will certainly think of him. Just one more addition on the people who are now missed in our community. First row holding the No 2 in his hands on the photo Olwyn sent around is Walter Maechtle who was a pioneer of AUC applications for nanoparticles and who started with us the development of the multiwavelength detector for AUC back in 2000 to get AUC to new hardware capabilities. He died 3 years ago. He influenced me a lot.

The report I got today on Don Winzor is that he is not doing well at all (3rd row, next to Steve Perkins). Keep him in our thoughts.

Thanks Olwyn.  Also another of our old friends Joachim Behlke – front row third left between Dave Scott and Mattia Rocco -  whom we lost after the Uppsala meeting in 2009.

I learned from Les Holladay that Marc Lewis passed away in his sleep last night. Marc was a long-time advocate for AUC, working hard to keep it available during the ‘dark days’ in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s.
