Dear all
In January I reported the sad news of the death of Mike Creeth, one of
the earlier pioneers of the AUC and the man who discovered - whilst he
was a young PhD student at Nottingham - using simple relative viscosity
and streaming birefringence measurements - the existence of hydrogen
bonds in DNA.

The Biochemist has just published an obituary that Don Winzor (Mike's
1st PhD student) and myself (Mike's last postDoc) have put together. It
includes his 2 chain model for DNA from his PhD thesis from 1947.

One of the UK national newspapers - The Independent has also published
this piece from 30th March

By chance this years AUC meeting is here at Nottingham,

Steve
