[RASMB] UltraScan AccessGrid Seminar on Thu, 12/6

Dear Colleagues,

This is an announcement for the next UltraScan seminar, which will take
place on Thursday, 12/6/07 at from 11 am - 12 pm Central Daylight Time.

The presenter for this seminar will be Karel Planken, Van 't Hoff
Laboratory for Physical and Colloid Chemistry, Debye Institute, Utrecht
University, Netherlands. The topic will be: Accurate Molecular Weight
from Multi-Speed SV AUC on a Polyoxometalate Applying Genetic Algorithm
Optimization and UltraScan Public LIMS Portal Super Computing


PLEASE NOTE:

The UltraScan seminar is broadcast over the AccessGrid. In order to
participate you will need to have AccessGrid 3.0 installed on your
desktop. If you are connecting via unicast, you will need to use the
UTHSCSA multicast bridge (can be found under "Tools"). Additional
information and links to free AccessGrid software can be found at:

Installation help via e-mail to jeremy at biochem.uthscsa.edu is available
all day Wednesday.

*****************************IMPORTANT***************************

There will no longer be a need for VNC - we now have an alternative
solution using just AccessGrid - all desktop images will be sent as
a high-resolution video stream. However, you will need to upgrade
your VIC program to version 3.1beta1 or 3.1beta2. Instructions for 
installing it on Windows or Linux is available at:

The seminar will take place in the UltraScan room in the 3.0 venue server
of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The
venue address for the UTHSCSA Lobby is:

All participants will need the AccessGrid toolkit version 3.0 and a VNC
viewer to participate. Please see the instructions for the setup of VNC
viewer (http://www.tightvnc.com) and the AccessGrid software at:

 http://www.accessgrid.uthscsa.edu

There will be a 1 hour testing time - 10-11 am central time.  Please
contact Jeremy Mann at jeremy at biochem.uthscsa.edu or 210-567-2672 for
assistance. I recommend to test out your AccessGrid connection one or
two days in advance of the meeting if you have never set it up before.
