Dear RASMBers:
Two new biophysical characterization positions are open in our
department to support discovery of protein therapeutics. One is at the
Associate Research Scientist level (BS or MS degree required) and also
requires experience in protein purification. The other position is at
the Research Investigator level (PhD and preferably 2-3 years of
post-doctoral training required). Details are below. If interested,
please apply to the Bristol-Myers Squibb web site as described below,
and also send information direct to me. Please feel welcome to call or
email if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mike Doyle, PhD
Group Leader, Protein Biochemistry
(609) 252-3175
_Job Description - Associate Research Scientist_
Express recombinant proteins in E. coli or yeast. Purify recombinant
proteins from E. coli, baculovirus infected insect cells, and other
sources. Ability to work independently and develop multi step
chromatography protein purification protocols from experience or from
researching the existing scientific literature. Biophysical
characterization of protein protein interactions using kinetic or
equilibrium methods. Characterize the protein structure, stability and
aggregation state of protein therapeutic agents and protein targets.
Closely collaborate with scientists within own department and with
external customers.
_Position Requirements_
B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry or related field. Two or more years of post
degree experience would be preferred. Experience with recombinant DNA
vectors and optimizing culture conditions to express milligram to gram
quantities of proteins in E. coli or yeast. Experience using multi-step
chromatography methods. Experience with analytical ultracentrifugation,
surface plasmon resonance, microcalorimetry, or light scattering would
be an advantage.
_Job Description - Research Investigator_
Study protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions to support
drug discovery. Use Analytical Ultracentrifugation, Surface Plasmon
Resonance, Calorimetry, Light Scattering and other biophysical assays to
select protein therapeutic agents and characterize protein targets.
Characterize of protein structure, stability and aggregation state.
Conduct quantitative analysis of protein interactions. Collaborate in
multidisciplinary drug discovery teams. Very strong communication skills
are required, both written and verbal.
_Position Requirements_
PhD in Biochemistry or related field, and 2-3 years of postdoctoral
experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated
excellent scientific leadership abilities as evidenced by publications
and presentations at scientific meetings. Biophysical characterization
of protein-protein interactions using kinetic or equilibrium methods.
Experience with analytical ultracentrifugation, surface plasmon
resonance, or microcalorimetry would be an advantage. Protein
purification experience would be an advantage. Effective verbal and
written communication skills.
Applications must be made at www.bms.com (click on "Job Search" in the
"Quick Links" section in middle of web page, and register). To apply,
register as a guest, locate the position by doing a "detailed search"
with the requisition number 19902 (Associate Scientist, BS/MS) or 19867
(Research Investigator, PhD w/post-doc) . (Please also send your CV to
