Dear Thomas,
I did sedimentation equilibrium in Toluene and n-Hexane several years ago.
Judging from the data sheet I refrained from using epon centerpieces but
rather used Kel-F mantled Aluminum centerpieces and had no problem with
swelling or distortion. These centerpieces have been in the prodiction line
of Beckman with part # 331420 many years ago.
Hope this may help

Betreff: [RASMB] Working with toluene
Hello
I would like to know if anyone has any experience of working with toluene in
Epon centrepieces. I think there may be an issue with swelling of the
centrepiece in certain organic solvents which I assume could cause the cells
to break. As this is a velocity study the run length is quite short, also is
it possible to minimise problems by pre-swelling the centrepiece?
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
Tom
