Hi RASMBers,

I have been able to run my XL-A under Win98 with a home built
PC (P3) for quite some time now (> 5 yr) with no problems.

I have also successfully used a "home built" PC (P4) running Win98 on
my XL-I. But I had some help from my service rep.

This is what he has to say about it.

><<
>I don't know why their reps.
>have not told them to upgrade but it seems that most of the people
>were talking
>about XLI's which is a little tougher but if they have standard XLA's they can
>upgrade to basically any computer and run XP, all they will need is a firmware
>upgrade and user interface. If they have an XLI they can go to Win 98 but they
>need to reserve IRQ 10 in the advanced setup. If they choose to
>build a computer
>tell them to use Intel 845G chipset w/P4- this is probably the last intel bd.
>that will run 98- You can buy this bd. online- Thats where I get
>them. If anyone
>has any questions you can give them my cell # , but pls. don't publish it!!
