Structural Genomics Consortium
Post-doctoral Scientist, Protein Chemistry/Biophysics Team, Molecular Biophysics Division
Salary: D31 £18,893 - £28,279

The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) is an international collaboration of British and Canadian scientists whose primary objective is to determine the 3-dimensional structures of proteins associated with human disease and release them into the public domain (public databases). The SGC in Oxford is embedded within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Oxford, and is located in the Botnar Research Centre at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

SGC Oxford is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated post-doctoral scientist with specialist training in analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) to join the Molecular Biophysics Group, Protein Chemistry Team. The successful candidate will work on the biophysical characterization of protein targets using a combination of AUC, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism, and isothermal calorimetry (ITC). The work will also involve the development and use of enzymatic assays to characterize activity and to quantify the effects of inhibitors. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in protein chemistry and AUC, as well as a sound scientific publication record. Documented experience in the above-mentioned methods will be required. Ability to work productively within a team environment and to collaborate easily with other scientists is essential.

Further details and an application form will be available shortly from our web page www.sgc.ox.ac.uk/jobs or alternatively e-mail linda.ball at sgc.ox.ac.uk The closing date for applications is 10th Jan 2006.
