Hi John,

We may very well be interested in selling our XL-A. We don't have
interference optics, but our instrument has low number of hrs; it was
purchased in 8/98 and has a fairly large number of accessories. It
was obtained from NSF on a Major Mult-User Grant program for which I
was grant and instrument supervisor and the grant was written with
this instrument and facility as the sole facility in our state. I
was, and still think I am the only one in our state with extensive
experience with analytical ultracentrifuges. It was used heavily for
the first few years, but then fell into so little use that we cannot
afford to keep it on a maintenance contract, a pretty essential need.
I will first have to inquire from NSF if we can charge anything for
the instrument beyond our state's 50% match. I will also have to
offer the instrument to any other State facility in OK. But other
than these conditions, we would be happy to consider your offer.

I will be leaving for the ASBMB meetings early, starting Fri. 3/27
and returning to Stillwater, OK on 4/8. You can contact me at any
time on my phone or my email address during these times or see me at
these meeting if you wish. I will be presenting one of the "late
breaking" posters on Wed., 4/6, so you can catch me there also.

Look forward to talking with you more - or better yet meeting you in S. D.
Cheers and Beers as our good English colleague says,
Olin
