<p class="MsoNormal">The Biomolecular Interaction Technology Center (BITC) and Beckman Coulter are pleased to announce the award of two scholarships to the Advanced Analytical Ultracentrifugation Workshop and Symposium.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>Beckman Coulter will pay the $1,250 registration fee for Stephen <span class="SpellE">
Hessler</span> and Tyler Daman.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Both Steven and Tyler demonstrated great potential for using Analytical Ultracentrifugation in their future research careers.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>Stephen is a PhD. graduate student studying in the lab of James Cole at the University of Connecticut.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>For his thesis research, Steve intends to pursue some fundamental questions regarding the mechanism of activation of PKR, an important protein involved in the innate immune response and the body’s response to viral infection.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>Tyler Daman is a PhD graduate student studying in the lab of Victoria Robinson at the University of Connecticut.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>Tyler is studying the intrinsically disordered features of Drosophila <span class="SpellE">
Nucleostemin</span> using SAXS and various biophysical techniques, including AUC.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>BITC was founded by Tom Laue as an NSF I/UCRC center at the University of New Hampshire, and has since grown to become a stand-alone industry-university research consortium involving multiple biotechnology companies and the University of New Hampshire
and the University of Delaware.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>BITC has a threefold mission:<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>provide advanced methods for the analysis of biomolecular interactions;<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>transfer technologies through training, consultation and collaboration;<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>provide an environment in which academic and industrial researchers can interact.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>From the Model E to the <span class="SpellE">ProteomeLab</span> XL-I, Beckman Coulter is the trusted name in analytical ultracentrifugation; with the launch of the new Optima AUC, Beckman Coulter has committed to add to its legacy and enable researchers
to continue to push the forefronts of experimental science.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>The advanced AUC workshop has a >15 year tradition of promoting training, collaboration, and innovation in the field of protein interaction science and technology.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
