It's possible that one of them is missing the masks (held in by a small
hex screw) that provide the reference edges for the radial calibration.
Take a close look. It may not be obvious at first glance.<br>

Beckman XL-A analytical ultracentrifuge. There are two counter balances
in the lab, one of them is 33.6 grams and the other is 31.7 g just by
themselves (no weight inside). Why are they made in different weight?
