The operation of the existing Beckman system is not affected. The
absorbance and interference detectors are still controlled through the
Beckman computer. A switch box is used on the serial communications
line to select either the Beckman or Aviv computers. The Aviv
system has complete control of the basic centrifuge, but not the Beckman
detectors. <br><br>
The cost is under $150 k USD, (variables are shipping, travel, currency
exchange, et cetera). Inspections cost $2600, which is part of a
quote.<br><br>
1 year warranty is included, a service contract is available.
Upkeep includes cleaning the lens (if you have an oily AUC) and periodic
lubrication of the motors. The laser is expected to be good for
30,000 hours. <br><br>
All Beckman center pieces will work. Front surface center pieces
with reduced sample volumes are available from

announce that an agreement has been reached to allow the Aviv<br>
Fluorescence Detection System (FDS) to be installed into existing<br>
Optima(tm) and ProteomeLab(tm) XL-A and XL-I analytical<br>
ultracentrifuges. The FDS enhances the performance of the
XL-A/XL-I<br>
with an orthogonal approach to sample characterization that provides<br>
the capability to measure the behavior of an individual
(fluorescently<br>
tagged) species in a mixture.<br><br>
Installation and verification of the FDS will be performed by Aviv<br>
Biomedical. Beckman Coulter will verify operation of the XL-A/XL-I<br>
