<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Dear Borries ,dear colleagues,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I allready work with thin doublesector cells
2, 3 and 4mm longtime with the E and XLA, before Beckman
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>put the 3mm on the selling list. Our workshop
made /cut from a bad 12 mm Charcoal-Epoxy or Alum-Epoxy
(not Kel-F or Alum !) Centerpiece 1 or two good new thin ones. Depends on
the size .Also the 2 spacers, the simplest thing , adapted to each size.
To prevent leaks (not always happen) I add from each
side a DS red washer as used with the 12mm Alum standart
centerpiece. A little problematic</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>is to assemble the cell because they are
flat and no place where the washers can be fixed.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>First I insert the lower
windowholder+saphire then I insert the lower washer on the window by
eye</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>you can use a wooden thin road(long match) to move
better in position and you insert the centerpiece,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>if the washer does not lie perfect, push from
below with a steak and cleaning paper so a bit space to push
the washer remain, to lie the upper washer on the centerpiece is easy. Apro-pos.
Also for leaking </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>12mm Epon centerpieces I add
washers.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>As the source of many leaks are the
screw-washer (evaporation) especially older once I add from them
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>3-5 under each screw. In case of thin centerpieces
it is crucial. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The DS washers are quite expensive and I use them
several times.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>From my knowladge optical focus of the Xla is
in the cell mid , not on 2/3 level .</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Mostly I use 4mm , the 2mm are difficult to
assemble. I run thin cells up to 44000 rpm if needed</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>but usually less for SE.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Meanwhile I restarted working on private base
not as member of the Biozuntrum Basel.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Borris, sorry that in my situation now I can't help
directly, I have no influence on the workshop there</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>but to make a spacer is about 10 minutes a
centerpiece 1/2hour. with washers no smoothing </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>proccedure needed.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> yours ...ariel</FONT></DIV>
