Well, Steve just beat me by a split second... we should definitively have a session honoring Helmut at the next AUC.

And perhaps even a prize in his name for the best student presentation...

The field has truly lost one of its greats – his Google Scholar H-index<https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=wmeo34cAAAAJ&hl=de> is out of this world -  and only yesterday he was teaching his students at Konstanz.

Helmut was guest Editor of a Special Edition of Macromolecular Bioscience to commemorate the anniversary: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/mabi.201000201

At next year's AUC meeting at Bad Staffelstein in Germany I am hoping we can make a special tribute to his life and works.



Helmut – a Huge Thanks from the field ... although we'll have to find someone else now to sort out the Beer and Crisps at meetings 😊

I will miss his terrific sense of humor, his great scientific insights and cheerful support of anyone in the AUC field. I will lift a glass of beer to him tonight and recall all of the good times we had together.
