Dear Niko-
CsCl is readily soluble in water, so I suspect that what you are looking at is aluminum oxide, which is not soluble in any solvent. I am not sure that there is a way to remove it that does not involve abrasion.
Best wishes,
Tom

Dear all,

I want to use Aluminum centerpieces, but they appear to be crusted with CsCl. Could you please advise on a proper cleaning reagent to remove the crust? I have so far tried ultrasonications for 30 minutes in baths of water, EtOH, and 2% Hellmanex...

Your input would be gratefully appreciated!

Best,

Niko
