Dear all,

I double checked my lab journal and found out the problem rose up after a run with a 70% sucrose sample. I would guess the Epon cell was swelling after exposing the such high concentration of sucrose. I have tried to soak the Epon centerpiece in water overnight. It seemed to help a bit. I plan to extend the soaking time to several days to see if the swelling can be recovered. Many thanks for your kind replys :)

Bests,
Mengdi

Dear all,

I ordered an AUC cell assembly from Beckman which contained an Epon centerpiece. But only after a few runs, the cell was leaking even without vacuum. I found that the centerpiece cannot be pushed smoothly to the bottom of the cell when I assembled the cell.

Has anyone of you met this similar problem? Any there any suggestions for solving this problem? Shall I use an O ring on top of the centerpiece to seal the cell, like how we assemble the Al centerpiece?

Many thanks.

Best wishes,
Mengdi Chen
