Hi, Tom,

Many thanks, I did hear from John! Also, thanks to the pointer to the calculation; I had thought of doing that, but was being lazy.

Best,
Chad

Hi-
I've forwarded your message to John Harlan in case he didn't see your post. I'm not aware of an experimental value, but it could be calculated accurately from the composition (~1% uncertainty) since it is not a charged molecule. The data to do the calculation is in Cohn and Edsall (I believe).
Best wishes-
Tom

Subject: [RASMB] DM (not DDM)

Hi, All,

Sorry to ask a very typical question, but hours of googling have only brought frustration. Does anybody know of a published vbar for decyl maltoside? I see plenty of information for its big brother, DDM, but not much for DM.

I saw in the RASMB archives that Ariel Warshel and John Harlan referred to unpublished values in the 0.795 to 0.815 range, but I can't find any published reference for those.

Cheers,
Chad
