I was lucky enough to overlap with Steve Shire while both of us were
postdocs under Todd Schuster at UConn. As Tom said, Steve was truly a
pioneer in the use of AUC and other biophysical methods in the biotech
industry, and I likely would not have ended up there myself if it were not
for Steve leading the way. He was a great scientist, good friend, and a warm
and kind person, and he indeed will be sorely missed.

Dear all-

I just learned that Steve Shire passed away yesterday. He brought protein
solution biophysics to the early biopharma industry, and taught a lot of
about how to characterize high-concentration protein solutions. He was a
good friend, and a lot of fun to be around. I know we will all miss him
tremendously.

Best wishes,
