Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to announce the 14th annual Analytical Ultracentrifugation
and UltraScan workshop scheduled for May 19th-22nd 2016 at the
University of Texas Health Science Center in historic San Antonio.

**************************************************************************
        Solution Studies of Biological Macromolecules:

From Experimental Design to Data Analysis
**************************************************************************

Additional information and a registration form can be found online at:

	http://www.ultrascan.uthscsa.edu/workshop.php

The registration deadline is Friday, April 22nd 2016.
A limited number of seats are available on a first-come basis.

Course Contents:

The goal of this workshop is to provide participants with a solid
background in hydrodynamics, and to provide hands-on training with the
UltraScan-III software for high-resolution AUC experimental data analysis.
We will focus on sample composition analysis (size-shape distributions),
characterization of reversible oligomerization, hetero-association,
and detection of aggregates/contaminants. Novice users are strongly
encouraged to attend the introductory morning session on Thursday, 5/19.

Participants will learn how to optimally design AUC experiments to solve
problems in a wide range of domains applicable for hydrodynamic study, and
gain proficiency with the UltraScan-III software and the high-performance
computing backend, as well as the LIMS database system. Participants are
encouraged to bring their own data to be analyzed with expert assistance
during the workshop. Participants will learn how to use high-performance
computing through the LIMS Science Gateway to analyze sedimentation
velocity data using various modeling approaches based on whole boundary
finite element solutions, and to interpret the results.

In addition to AUC we will also offer an introduction to hydrodynamic
modeling and small angle scattering tools utilizing the UltraScan
SOlution MOdeller (US-SOMO). US-SOMO computes hydrodynamic parameters
and small angle scattering data from atomic structures and bead models
and facilitates their comparison with experimental values. We will
introduce these concepts and provide a hands-on tutorials exemplifying
these techniques.

The following sessions are scheduled:

May 19th:
	* Introduction to data analysis with UltraScan (intended for novice users)
	* Bead Modeling and SAXS/SANS analysis with UltraScan-III SOMO
May 20th-22nd:
	* Analytical Ultracentrifugation Data Analysis with US-III AUC
(intended for advanced users and those who took the introductory
session, working familiarity with US3 is a prerequisite)
