Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce a major new release of UltraScan-III!
Version 3.0, release 1757, for US3 is available for download from:
http://www.ultrascan3.uthscsa.edu
Binaries for Linux/X11, Mac OS-X, and Windows XP/7/8 are available.
The latest US3 delivers unsurpassed performance and resolution in whole
boundary modeling of sedimentation experiments, and now also natively
includes the latest and complete UltraScan-SOMO suite for bead modeling
and SAXS/SANS analysis.
Our latest version features many new and improved functions. Highlights
include new interface improvements, performance enhancements, new
utilities and new analysis methods. For the first time, data from
the novel multi-wavelength detector is now fully supported, allowing
completely automated, high-resolution supercomputing analysis of hundreds
of experiments performed at different wavelength in parallel.
US3 now also incorporates the new PCSA method, see [Gorbet et al., A
parametrically constrained optimization method for fitting sedimentation
velocity experiments. Biophys. J. (2014) Vol 106(8), pp1741-1750],
the new Custom Grid method for characterizing heterogeneous mixtures of
nanoparticles to fit anisotropy, partial specific volume, and particle
distributions, and a new speed ramp method (thanks to Johannes Walter
and Konrad Loehr) for analyzing rapidly sedimenting materials with the
multi-wavelength detector.
For the SOMO portion of UltraScan-III the highlights include the addition
of an interface for BEST [S.R. Aragon. J. Comput. Chem. 25:1191-1205]
for hydrodynamic computations which complement the existing SOMO / AtoB
and ZENO methods and inclusion of the new HPLC-SAXS tools [E Brookes et
al. J. Appl. Cryst. 46, 1823-1833]. More details can be found at:
http://www.somo.uthscsa.edu
Additional details about the new version can be found in the news section
of the UltraScan-III website:

Also:
I would like to invite all interested users to the 12th annual UltraScan
workshop from June 13th-16th, 2014 where we will teach all the new methods
now integrated in UltraScan-III.
PLEASE NOTE: This year, we will also offer a beginner's introductory
session on June 12th, preceding the workshop. For more information
please visit:

We are looking forward to welcome you in beautiful San Antonio!
Best wishes, -Borries
