Dear Colleagues,

I have an open position for an Associate Scientist in my group at
Genentech. The focus of this position is on analytical ultracentrifugation
but will also provide support for field-flow fractionation.

I am looking for someone with a fair amount of experience in AUC, hence my
posting to the RASMB distribution list; please do not hesitate to contact
me directly or via the link below if you are interested in the position or
know someone who might be a good fit.

The position is described below, and can also be found here:

The Position

An Associate Scientist position is available within the Late Stage
Pharmaceutical Development Department. The primary responsibility will be
leading characterization efforts using analytical ultracentrifugation to
support pharmaceutical development. These activities include supporting
development activities (e.g. characterization of aggregate content of
protein solutions) as well as research activities (e.g. studying
ligand-receptor binding and protein self-association) using state-of-the
art instrumentation equipped with absorbance, fluorescence and interference
optics. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for the operation
of a field-flow fractionation instrument. The candidate is expected to
participate in cross-functional product development teams and work closely
with other technical groups including analytical chemistry, protein
purification, quality, and regulatory. Further, the candidate is expected
to develop scientific independence and exhibit creativity by identification
and evaluation of new scientific opportunities that further the current
state-of-the-art.

Who You Are

A Ph.D. in the field of chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry,
biophysics, biophysical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related
discipline with 0-5 years relevant experience or a MS/BS with 8-12 years of
relevant experience. The candidate should have hands-on experience in
analytical ultracentrifugation, including data analysis, with a proven
publication record. A strong background in protein biochemistry and
biophysics, and/or quantitative biochemical analysis is essential.
Experience with field-flow fractionation is a plus. In addition, the
candidate must be a highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and
inventive self-starter with strong communication, collaboration, and
analytical thinking skills.
