Hi Marcel,
In addition to follow Borries' speed profile (you might add 20% more time for each step to be on the safe side), you should consider to scan not only at one wavelength (I would guess you were doing 280 nm), but to use up to three different wavelength, e.g. 230, 225 and 220 nm. At these lower wavelentgh you would achieve much better signal.
