Hi Luitgard-
If you have an interference optical system, you will have trouble
finding a computer with an ISA bus that will accommodate the camera
controller. The high cost of the upgrade is for a new camera and
interface that will work with the PCI bus found on newer computers.
There are specialty computer companies that will sell you a PC with an
ISA bus, but they are expensive and I do not know how well they will
work with the Beckman ISA camera controller.
If you do not have an interference system, you can upgrade to pretty
much any computer and run Windows XP.
Best wishes,
Tom
