Hello RASMBers,

I'd like to draw your attention to several new job openings in the biophysics department of Novo Nordisk which will be appear on http://www.novonordisk.com/careers/default_uk.asp?slangid=uk
by Monday, 15th of august. Please feel free to circulate the offers to interested and suitable candidates.

Best, Holger

Principal Scientist for Biophysical Characterization and Preformulation of Peptides and Proteins

Challenges
The department of Subcutaneous Formulation and Biophysics seeks an experienced research scientist to drive and support our work on the development of liquid formulations of proteins and peptides. You will participate in our research projects within the diabetes research area with the aim to support and drive the protein and peptide design and lead selection. You identify and address biophysical and preformulation issues essential for the project progress. With your biophysical methods of choice you address matters such as solubility, aggregation, self-association, ligand-binding, and with your strong background within protein and peptide formulation your are able to suggest design strategies and preformulation space. Your ensure that a substantiated recommendation is available to select a lead which fulfils the biophysical requirement such that the project can deliver a successful lead formulation with optimal properties of efficacy, safety, stability and manufacturability.

Qualifications
The successful candidate has significant experience in applying biophysical and analytical methods for formulation development of proteins and/or peptides. This is documented by a PhD degree within a relevant field, at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience, and a strong academic/industrial track record. Previous experience from the pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of pharmaceutical development processes is an advantage. This is backed by strong communication skills which combined with your scientific excellence create impact in our cross organisational and multi-disciplinary project groups.

We provide access to state of the art technologies in addition to an engaging work environment with highly competent colleagues committed to excellence and innovation. Our Novo Nordisk research site houses more that thousand employees from numerous countries and is situated close to Copenhagen - a great place to work and live. Favourable tax rules apply to specialists moving to Denmark and Novo Nordisk provide a support package for relocation.

Research Scientist for Biophysical Characterization of Peptides and Proteins

Challenges
The department of Subcutaneous Formulation and Biophysics seeks several experienced research scientists to support and drive our work on the development of proteins and peptides based liquid formulations. The preferred candidates will plan, perform and interpret biophysical studies on peptides and proteins and participate in our research projects with the task of providing support for analogue design and lead selection. You are trained in the application of NMR, fluorescence, circular dichroism or light scattering spectroscopy for the study protein and peptide properties. Topics such as self-association, aggregation, fibrillation, solubility and ligand-binding are familiar to you.

Qualifications
The successful candidate has a PhD degree in biochemistry, biophysics or structural biology with at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience and demonstrates a track record of employing some of the above mentioned biophysical methods to address protein and peptide biophysical and structural properties. Your formal qualifications are backed by strong communication skills which ease your integration in our cross organisational and multi-disciplinary project groups. You are self driven, and enjoy sharing results, ideas and experiences with your colleagues. High quality documentation and data presentation should come natural to you.

Laboratory technicians for biophysical characterization of peptides and proteins

Challenges
Department of Subcutaneous Formulation and Biophysics seeks several technicians for biophysical analyses of proteins and peptides. You will work closely together with the research scientists for the support of our many protein and peptide projects. The position as a laboratory technician is focused on planning of laboratory work, sample preparation, data acquisition and analysis, in addition to graphical representation and reporting.
Furthermore maintenance of equipment and assay development will be an integrated part of the work. Your work will contribute to a number of our key research projects, and as project work progresses you will be able recognise your own contribution to the development of our pharmaceutical products.

Qualifications
The successful candidate is trained as laboratory technician, and should display a proven experience with several methodologies such as SEC, NMR, light scattering, CD, UV-Vis, FTIR or fluorescence spectroscopy. Hand on experience with proteins and peptides in solution is a prerequisite, and familiarity with Microsoft Excel or databases is preferable. The positions will appeal to candidates who favour R&D oriented tasks and thrive in a problem-solving and explorative environment, yet with a highly organised approach. You possess technical flair and like to improve instrumental and software operations. You are eager to help and support your colleagues to reach their goals and like to acquire new skills when needed. High quality documentation and work discipline in the laboratory should come natural to you. With your high spirits and dedication, you contribute to a positive work environment.
