[RASMB] UltraScan AccessGrid Seminar on Thu, 3/6/08

Dear Colleagues,

This is an announcement for the next UltraScan seminar, which will take
place on Thursday, 3/6/08 at from 11 am - 12 pm Central Time.

During this seminar I will present Part II of an analysis flowchart for
obtaining optimal results from sedimentation velocity experiments using
the UltraScan LIMS supercomputing applications.

PLEASE NOTE:

The UltraScan seminar is broadcast over the AccessGrid. In order to
participate you will need to have AccessGrid 3.0.2 or higher installed 
desktop. If you are not on a multicast network (most likely you will not
have this capability), you need to connect via unicast, and you will need
to use a unicast/multicast bridge to communicate (Tools:Bridges in
the Venueclient menu). We have added bridge connections to Argonne and 
NCSA to the UTHSCSA bridge, either bridge will work. Participants are
strongly encouraged to test their connections one or two days in advance
with Jeremy Mann (jeremy at biochem.uthscsa.edu)

************************* IMPORTANT CHANGE *************************
There will no longer be a need for VNC - we now have an alternative
solution using just AccessGrid - all desktop images will be sent as
a high-resolution video stream. However, you will need to upgrade
your VIC program to 3.0.2 or higher, and it needs to support the 
h261as video codec. Ag 3.1 has been officially released, so you may
want to use that if you install for the first time.

The seminar will take place in the UltraScan room in the 3.0 venue server
of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The

There will be a 1 hour testing time - 10-11 am central time.  Please

assistance. I recommend to test out your AccessGrid connection one or
two days in advance of the meeting if you have never set it up before.
