Hi,

Durchschlag has published values for the specific volume of urea in his 1986
review. Based on his unpublished data, v3 = 0.735 and 0.745 cm3/g at urea ->
0M and 1M, respectively. In the same review he quotes Timasheff's published
value of 0.763 at 8M. I guess that one can figure out the propensity of urea
to form a gradient based on these data (M urea = 60.06 g/mol).

I trust that this is of help.

Rodolfo.
