Dear RASMB colleagues,

I am interested in hearing your views on the following questions:

(1) What limitations are there in using interference optics on the XL-I to study proteins in the presence of surfactants of low and high cmc by sedimentation velocity and sedimentation equilibrium? What effect do the surfactant micelles have on the interference patterns? What limitations are there to analyzing the data and interpreting the results of such experiments? Are there any published studies that I can refer to?

(2) What limitations are there in using interference optics on the XL-I to study proteins at high concentrations, 20 mg/mL - 50 mg/mL, by sedimentation velocity and sedimentation equilibrium? What limitations are there to analyzing the data and interpreting the results of such experiments? Are there any published studies that I can refer to?

Thank you for your comments.
